How to Preview Files with Quick Look in ComfortFiles

Updated July 20, 2026

Select a file and press Space — a full-size preview opens instantly. Press Space again to close it. This is macOS Quick Look, the same preview engine Finder uses, so everything that previews in Finder previews here: images, PDFs, videos, documents, code.

Steps

  1. Click a file in the list (or navigate to it with the arrow keys).
  2. Press Space to open the preview.
  3. Press Space or Esc to close it.

Quick Look works in both list and icon view.

Why it matters for switchers

Windows Explorer’s preview pane is always-on but small; Quick Look is on-demand and full-size. Give it a day — most switchers end up preferring it. It’s one of the macOS behaviors ComfortFiles deliberately keeps rather than replaces.
