How to Summon ComfortFiles from Anywhere

With the summon shortcut enabled, pressing ⌃⌥⌘Space in any app brings ComfortFiles to the front — no Dock trip, no ⌘Tab hunting. Think of it as a file manager on speed dial.

Enabling it

  1. Click ComfortFiles in the menu bar.
  2. Select Summon with ⌃⌥⌘Space. A checkmark appears.

The shortcut works system-wide from that moment. If ComfortFiles has no open window, summoning opens one.

Disabling it

Uncheck the same menu item. The shortcut is released immediately and no longer intercepts the key combination anywhere.

Good to know

  • The setup assistant on first launch offers this toggle too — if you enabled it there, it’s already on.
  • The combination ⌃⌥⌘Space was chosen because macOS and common apps leave it free; it doesn’t conflict with Spotlight (⌘Space).
